The keel has been laid for Movie star Cruises’ subsequent Edge-class ship, Movie star Ascent, formally marking the start of her development.
To mark the event, a ceremonial coin was positioned onto a metal docking block that types the keel by Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group ,and Laurent Castaing, Normal Supervisor of Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard. It was then welded to the keel. The laying of the coin is a longstanding maritime custom, thought to bless and convey luck to the vessel.
“At present, we have fun the unimaginable Movie star Ascent, a ship title that fittingly represents the climb, the rise and, finally, the upward trajectory of each Movie star Cruises and the Royal Caribbean Group,” stated Liberty. “It’s thrilling to have our total fleet again within the water, once more, and moments like this reaffirm our vibrant future. We’re grateful to all who’ve and can proceed to lend their creativity and craftsmanship to this ship, as we work collectively to achieve new heights in our trade.”

Ascent is Movie star’s fourth Edge-class ship, following Movie star Edge, Apex, and Past. The vessel will likely be 17 decks tall and 20 meters longer than the unique Movie star Edge, and can characteristic extra public area on board.
